Our Road Trip...

Morgan and I took a road trip with my parents to Colorado for ten days. I remember growing up taking road trips to Colorado...but never one that was as long as this one!! My dad REALLY took the scenic route this time! Besides the LONG drive there and back the trip was GREAT!
Our first stop was to the Four Corners...I had been as a child, so I wanted Morgan to go at least once in her lifetime as well.
There was construction going on as we were there. Everything was re-done and much nicer than I remember!
We took A LOT of pit stops....
One of our stops included a visit with one of my high school friends, Misty! It was so great to see her!
Our next stop was Ouray, Colorado. This is were we stayed on Friday night. Home of many natural hot springs. The hotel we stayed at had a pool that was the hot springs...it was 52 degrees outside and 101 degrees in the pool...WONDERFUL!!
Next stop...Colorado Springs....
We visited family, celebrated my Aunt's 50th birthday, and PLAYED!!
We took a trip to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
The Giraffe's were Morgan's favorite!
We also took a ride on The Royal Gorge Railway...that was breathtaking!
The bridge you see in the photo is a suspension bridge...they also have a cable car ride that goes over the top of the gorge...SCARY!!
Morgan got a hair cut and sat so good for it!
We visited The Abbey, which was a former Catholic Monastery for Monks in the Order of St. Benedict from 1924-2005. Amazing architecture.
Once again our ride home consisted of many stops and scenic views...one of the best was our Moose encounter.
Our final stop was in Durango, Colorado where we stayed at the Strater Hotel. This hotel was built in the 1800's and for some reason I got a creepy vibe from it...the stay was great and it was clean....just OLD!
Right behind the hotel was the railroad station, so we got the see the train.
This train still runs from Durango to Silverton for tourists to sight see along the way!

Our trip was a wonderful one...next time I prefer to fly!!

"I will pick it"

Morgan is a fan of picking her own attire these days...and I was once told to pick your own battles...so sometimes if we are just out playing I let her...this is what she picked to wear to the library today!
Her Minnie Mouse shirt, pink skirt, ballet leg warmers (in 110 degree weather),
her "shoe plops" and a pink headband.

As silly as it was, she got LOT'S of compliments and giggles. So the way I look at it,
is she put smiles on the faces of those who needed an extra giggle today.

A week of events...

We have been keeping quite busy during the week...with taking Zach to and from school, starting football next week, planning for vacations, shopping...wow I must get caught up on things...so the first and most fun is the blog, the laundry and cleaning can wait! ;)

This is how Morgan wanted to wear her headband today...I called her my Hippie Chic. She thought it was hilarious!
We took a trip to Trader Joe's...I LOVE this store...and so does Morgan and Tristin, as they get to do all the pushing!

How can you resist that little face, with all that curly hair!
We took a camping trip last weekend with my parents and sister. It was still a little to hot, but we camp in luxury so we still had a/c!
Zach immediately found this tree and started climbing in it. I think we were only there for 5 minutes before he was out gettin' dirty!
Morgan enjoyed resting and watching all the princess movies she could...we must have watched "Belle" and "Seeping Beauty" 50 times each! =)
My parents dog...Brooks...she was a little stressed out not being at home.
Shawn and Dad playing a game of Horseshoes.

Mel teaching Morgan to text!
Here's to the imagination of a kid....Zach found a stick in the woods and some fishing line and made a bow, then he found some sticks for arrows...the bow really shot the sticks! Quite creative!
Morgan did not want Grandpa to sleep, so instead she was hopping on him!
Princess, my sisters dog!
Gramma and Morgan picking flowers!
Grampa and Morgan watching a Princess movie!
Shawn brought his real bow and arrow to practice his shots for his hunting trip. Him and his dad are spending a week in Texas now to "prepare" the property is what they told me....I think it was just an excuse to go check things out because they are so excited for their trip this Fall!
My Dad and Shawn shooting away!
Here's Paris...our dog...usually she is dressed in a dress with bows in her hair, but I thought I'd be nice and give her a break while we were camping. I even have a dog purse for her when we take her places with us...pathetic...I know!
Mom reading her book while trying to escape the heat! It was quite hot during the day!
As Shawn heads to Texas with his father...
Morgan and I will head to Colorado for my Aunts 50th birthday and
Zach will stay here with his cousin for 3 days so he doesn't miss school and prepare for the beginning of his football season!

Sorry for the overload of photo's!

Designing my LIFE....

Living my Vision...

Today is the start of a new adventure for me. Along with some of my Mary Kay sisters we are going to make a difference in our lives, in one another's lives, and a ton of women's lives in the next 90 days. We recently met a National Sales Director with Mary Kay who created this book, and we all took the challenge to start living our lives with a purpose.
Last night at our unit meeting we wrote out each of our visions...or DREAM visions, and our career visions. It is said that if you write out a vision and say it at least once a day you are 95% more likely to succeed at that vision. So I wrote all of mine down.

These are the areas we will each be working on, growing with, and turning into our dreams.

Week 1: Here is what my book looks like.
Yellow = Quiet time and exercise time
Green = Family time
Pink = Mary Kay time
Blue = Babysitting time
Orange = Bible study & Church time

All of these things I currently am doing, now I am just journaling and writing it down to be held more accountable.

This is an example of what each day looks like. Under the yellow sticker is what time I wake up, exercise, quiet time, work time, and bed time. Along with a section for errands to be ran that day, items to delegate, and a place to journal. The other page includes a space for my 6 Most Important Things to Do list, people to call, email and write and an evening space for chores and others items to be done in the evening.

I am ready and focused to take this challenge and succeed at it. I know it will help improve not only my walk with Christ, but my family time and my career time.

Today's quote is this: "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us" Ephesians 3:20 NKJV

The beginning of a new journey....

Today Zach started 6th grade...We started him at a new school this year, that requires the students to wear uniforms...belts and all!! I'm guessing by the look on his face it is NOT cool for mom's to be taking pictures anymore on the first day of school. Oops...I couldn't help it though! So, here's to the beginning of a new journey for Zach...and us...football, girls, hormones, football, girls, friends, hormones...you get it!! ;)
